Academic fellowships announced for locust studies

Two grants to finance two-year Master of Science (MS) degrees on locust issues are available under the FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme. The fellowships are part of FAO’s “Programme to improve national and regional locust management in Central Asia and Caucasus.”
The fellowships are open to nationals of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan who hold a university degree in agriculture, agronomy, plant protection or entomology.

Deadline for submission 15 March 2016.

April 24, 2015 at the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K.I. Skryabin was the first day of the third Festival of education in the framework of the eco-project "Think Globally, Act Locally" is dedicated to ecology and environmental education, including the use and promotion of traditional ecological knowledge to increase the awareness of children and young people about the necessity of careful attitude to the environment, rational use of water resources, to increase the environmental awareness and promote a clean and healthy environment.

The festival was attended by schoolboys, students, children and their parents. Doors were open all faculties and for visitors have presented master classes and presentations in all areas of education and science of the university, fair flowers, concert and dance events, eco-market, sports and games.

The festival was attended by vice Prime Minister Damira Niyazalieva, ex-president Roza Otunbayeva, the mayor of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov, Raisa Atambayeva, the ambassadors of some States and the media.

The event was accompanied by a concert and dance performances performed by the students of the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University, educational center "Umai-Nur", the Confucius Institute and the youth movement "I love Kyrgyzstan".

Today at the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University took place ceremonial opening of the research laboratory "Soil and Water", organized collateral Xinjiang Academy of the agricultural sciences and KNAU. The aim of this laboratory is to research of soil cover and composition of the water of Transboundary Rivers of China and Kyrgyzstan. The laboratory can carry out analyzes on 178 state indicators of soil and water to modern laboratory equipment’s.
Before the opening of the laboratories conducted training of young research staff in China and Kyrgyzstan. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of education and science Bekboev Adilet, heads of the Xinjiang Academy of agricultural sciences and KNAU.
